LOS ANGELES -- La Opinion Digital, Hoy, Exito and El Sentinel announced today they have entered into a partnership that combines their expertise and resources to bring U.S. Hispanics the most complete World Cup coverage available online.

Latinos are among the most avid soccer fans in the world, and this site is specifically tailored for them. Latinos will be able to log on to the site anytime to get up-to-the-minute coverage of all the World Cup games. The spotlight will be on teams from the Americas, as well as on all of the top-ranked teams participating in the games. During the tournament, the Web site will feature articles from La Opinion's award-winning sports team on location in South Korea and Japan.

The Web pages will be divided into seven areas, ensuring users thorough coverage and information about every aspect of the World Cup. The sections include Home/News, Teams, Statistics, Venues, Photo Galleries, World Cup History and Fun & Games. As users click on selected areas, they will have more options, and more World Cup content. Users can also sign up for e-mail newsletters that will be sent to their inbox after each match. It promises to be the premier World Cup site for soccer-obsessed Hispanics.

The 17th World Cup will be divided between two countries, South Korea and Japan. Twenty cities, ten in each country, will be hosting the tournament games. This is the first time in World Cup history that the games will be played concurrently in two nations. The games will start May 31st and continue through the championship match on June 30th in Yokohama, Japan. Due to the time difference between South Korea and Japan and the United States, the matches will be played late night or early morning in the United States. Therefore, it is anticipated that the Internet will play an unprecedented role in providing U.S. Hispanics all their World Cup news.

The partnership between La Opinion Digital, Hoy, El Sentinel and Exito is a content, sales and marketing alliance that brings together four newspapers that service some of the largest Hispanic populations. La Opinion serves the Southern California area. Hoy caters to Hispanics in the New York Tri-State area. El Sentinel provides information for Orlando, Florida-based Latinos, and Exito supplies Chicago-area Hispanics with their news. The site will be promoted in each partner's print and online properties as well as permanent positioning on each partner's Web site. Advertising packages are available through all of the partners and will provide companies with an excellent method to reach U.S. Hispanics through the most popular global sporting event held only once every four years.
