LOS ANGELES -- Newly Introduced Blockbuster Programming Attracts Record Audience Levels and Boosts Ratings 81% in Primetime Hour and 100% in Daytime Hour

Univision Communications Inc. (NYSE: UVN), the leading Spanish-language media company in the United States, today announced that according to August Mediafax ratings information, since Univision began programming Puerto Rico station WLII-TV in April, the station has reached record audience levels and has captured the #1 position during key primetime hours among the coveted Adult 18-49 demographic.

With the introduction of Univision's blockbuster programming lineup less than six months ago, WLII's ratings have grown 81% during 7-8:00 p.m., 72% during 8-9:00 p.m. and an incredible 100% during 2-3:00 p.m. Commenting on the extraordinary ratings gains, Jessica Rodriguez, Program Director, Univision Puerto Rico, said: "We are truly thrilled with the tremendous progress Univision has made in Puerto Rico in such a short amount of time. Since WLII's new programming lineup was introduced in April, the station has drawn new viewers in every major daypart and increased ratings in all key hours, making it the #1 station during several key program hours. In fact, in several time periods, WLII was the only station to experience year-to-year ratings increases."

Rodriguez continued, "Since Univision began programming WLII in the Spring, we have taken numerous steps to improve the overall quality of the station. We have reduced the station's commercial load per hour by 44% -- significantly below our nearest competitor - which has allowed us to devote more time to public service announcements for the important Puerto Rico community. In addition, we have devoted substantial resources to regaining our local news leadership, including enlisting veteran Univision news director, Jose Morales, to lead this effort. With the unmatched resources of Univision Communications, including world-class productions from the Univision Network and our excellent programming partners, we are well poised for continued success and to become the #1 overall station in the market."

Since WLII implemented Univision programming this April, the station has significantly increased its share and ratings in key dayparts.
