WOW News Paradors Will Launch All-Inclusive Offers For Next Year By Joanisabel Gonzalez-Velazquez of WOW News May 28, 2003 Six paradors in the western part of Puerto Rico will launch an all-inclusive package for next year, according to Mirna Hau, president of Paradors Owners Association. Hau explained that the initiative seeks to highlight the tourism alternative paradors (improved small inns) represent in the zone, and at the same time, place the west in a better position to compete and be part of a possible Puerto Rico-Dominican Republic joint destination, a project currently under consideration in the legislature. Hau, the owner of Isabela’s Villa del Mar Hau, explained that the group of paradors–located in Guanica, Hatillo, Cabo Rojo, Adjuntas and Isabela–will offer 350 rooms for tourists interested in this type of product. The all-inclusive package will include the hotel stay, three meals a day, unlimited national beverages, and some aquatic sports. The offer will apply to three day-two night and four day-three night stays. Hau declined to comment on the possible price of the all-inclusive program, since parador owners are still analyzing the economic impact of its implementation, but said that the price will be "really low." She added that the group of parador owners is seeking alternatives with the legislature to finance their effort, but didn’t provide further details. "We are capable of offering this product (the all-inclusive package), and we agree in having external investors to diversify our tourism offer, but giving support to the local entrepreneurs has to be a government priority. This will allow local hoteliers to invest in their properties and improve the tourism offer," Hau added. In addition to Villa del Mar, paradors offering the all-inclusive package will be Bahia Salinas, Posada por la Mar, Villa Sotomayor, and Vistamar. Buen Cafe in Hatillo is also considering the product. Paradors employee 9% of the total labor force in the tourism sector and provide more than 1,000 rooms for tourists on the island.
