Latinos Inside: A Symposium on Identity, Globalization and Citizenship February 20, 2004 Latinos Inside: A Symposium on Identity, Globalization and Citizenship "Latinos Inside: Identity, Globalization and Citizenship" is a one-day symposium on current debates in Latino culture and politics. Organized by Frances Negrón-Muntaner, and sponsored by Columbia's Center for the Study of Ethnicity and Race, and the Department of English and Comparative Literature, the symposium will be held on March 6, 2004, beginning at 9:30 AM, at the Kellogg Center, International Affairs Building, 15th Floor, 420 West 118th Street. Symposium participants include several acclaimed Latino writers, prominent scholars working in Latino Studies, and influential public figures. Among the guests are:
The conference will address such topics as current migration patterns, the new cultures emerging from the coming together of diverse Latino and non-Latino communities, the Puerto Rican status debate in the context of globalization, and the impact of "Latinization" on the work of creative writers.
