Pedro Rossello was born on April 5, 1944 in San
Juan, Puerto Rico. He graduated from Notre Dame University in
1966. In 1970 he became a Doctor in Medicine from Yale. He
obtained a Masters degree in Public Health from the University of
Puerto Rico in 1981. In 1988 he became involved in politics for
the New Progressive Party and in 1991 became president of the New
Progressive Party. In 1992 he became governor. In his
administration he has fought against criminality. He mobilized
the National Guard to work with the police in an aggressive plan
to eliminate drug rings.
