The Independence party submitted to the
Resources Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives the
definition of independence to be included in the Young Bill. They
propose a definition of Independence as an alternative to the
modality of Puerto Rican Sovereignty.
It exposes a straightforward declaration as to
the nature of independence and its inherent legal consequences.
The definition presents the "relation between both nations
after independence and elicits from the present Congress a policy
statement as to crucial economic trade and free transit
issues", said Senator Ruben Barr̀os, President of the
Puerto Rican Independence Party.
